Endeavour at Ellington

After receiving an exclusive invitation invitation from NASA deciding to fight the crowds at a major public event, we got close to the Endeavour parked for the night at Ellington.

It was memorable seeing her up close. There was a lot of grumbling that Houston should have gotten one of the shuttles. I would give that up for the chance to see Houston training for a new generation of human-piloted spacecraft.

The ferry flight of the shuttle Endeavour made a flyby of my office in Houston. Thanks for thinking of me, NASA.

My copy of the New York Times after the Apollo 11 EVA, acquired for five cents at a yard sale in Ypsilanti, MI and photographed in July 2009:
